How can you walk around saying that your religion is the true religion, and preach that others should join you for that same reason. People always think that what they believe is so right, and they denounce others who believe differently, but why? Im not being anti-God here, im just saying that differentials in religion are too small, too insignificant. Whether God is real or not, i do not know. I can not know. But a belief in God is a belief in God, and such separations of religion into so many different "isms" is pointless and in the end insignificant

Reality
So im watching the Boondocks episode "The Passion of Ruckus", in which the character Uncle Ruckus creates his own religion that is very racist. Now at the same time the main character Huey is trying to save his friend from being executed, and his grandfather tells him "You should pray for your friend, that all you can do f-" at that moment Uncle Ruckus comes on t.v. preaching his racists beliefs and Huey says "What makes your god any less made up than his?". That is my favorite line from that show.

Nahhh. Religions can actually be REALLY different. And I'm not even talking about Christianity or anything. Like, Buddhism vs Judaism vs Islam(ism?) vs etc etc. Buddhism doesn't believe in a God god, right? They believe in reincarnation, though... Judaism and Christianity don't.... ya know, stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteBut I suppose you are correct in saying that in the religions that DO believe in a god are very similar. Although at the same time they are different.... >.>
He is not saying that their doctrines are the same, but instead that the hypocrisy and feeling of superiority derived from the self-righteous natures brought forth by religion are in essence all the same.
